Do you have any Polaroid left?

Rebecca and I didn’t have plans to shoot before arriving to OZ … as I couldn’t get in touch with her traveling booty! But, the first time we shot together in California I was going to use the Holga/Polaroid Back camera with Type 85… but I was out of Sodium Sulfite for clearing the negatives. So, we weren’t able to do that. So in OZ, she and I both had some time the last day and she asked, “do you have any of the Polaroid left?” Awesome! So, that’s all I shot her with. And I’m extremely happy with what we created! Some of these crazy shadows … only this film would ever bring them out like this. So glad I still have some left. These are always very precious pictures to me since there will never be Type 85 again. Enjoy.

Didgeridoo Master?

You’ve seen it on facebook and now it’s arrived.  To honor our Ozzie hosts, I’ve started to learn to play the Aborigine’s wind instrument, the didgeridoo.  So this is my first concert after one lesson.  Actually….this is sooooooooo baaaaaaaaaaadddddd that it’s funny and  I don’t mind embarrassing myself for a good laugh…enjoy…or cover your ears. ;)  Don’t have your windows open in the northwest when you play this….I’ve been told Moose go wild upon hearing it!

Nightly Slide Show Contest

We have been doing slide shows now @ the get together since 2005 when we were in Flagstaff, Arizona. In Flagstaff it was for only one night, and it was quite impromptu but there were a lot of photographs to watch. We also did a one night stand in 2006 and skipped the slide shows completely in 2007. 2007 was skipped because the get together was planned in 2 months due to my wedding in July. But, we brought them back again in 2008 @ the 29 Palms Inn. We did 4 shows a night under the stars on a patch of fresh green grass with the stars up overhead. It was lovely. So, it’s become a tradition now to show our work in this way to each other.

This year we decided to give incentive to producing an eye catching show. The famed master photographer Sam Haskins was amazing in giving Michael Marlborough his new book “FASHION ETCETERA“ to give away as a prize to the best slide show for a photographer and we gave $50.00 to the best slide show for a model.

All together we had 16 slide shows spread out over 4 nights and the winners were:

Cameron Attree and Muse.

It was rather hard to choose what show was best since all the work was brilliant. The next way to decide was just to go by who put the most effort and followed directions the best in producing the shows. Cameron and Muse to those of us who were judging put in the most effort and kept the audiences attention the best.

Maybe we can showcase their shows once we figure out how to get YouTube to allow nudity. Or maybe there’s another way… To be determined!

Big congratulations to Cameron and Muse!

Diva Moment

Polaroid Type 85 went right after SX-70. It’s understandable about Type 85 really. I mean, I’m the only one I know who ever shot nudes with it. Maybe someone else is out there? If so… let me know! I want to see your work too. Holga w/Polaroid back and Type 85. I still have mass amounts of film left.

I thought I would go through 12 packs in Australia, but alas… I broke my Polaroid bucket once I got to OZ and had to use a bowl from the house I rented so trucking around in the rainforest wasn’t so optional. Improvising is fun.

One day I photographed Rei and Muse at the house we were staying in together. The quote of the day was, “Ladies! Quit talking about boys and start talking about POSES!” I was running back and forth from the bowl to the shooting spot with Polaroid goo on my fingers and the paper stuff stuck to them while trying to hold two developed positives in my mouth at times. I swear if I ever had a “diva moment” that was it. Muse and Rei continued to taunt me about it for days. I’m certain my hair MUST have been sticking out all over the place too. It wasn’t… but it ads to the drama so play along. I was acting very exasperated because I was actually upset at the sun. See, it was moving way too rapidly and I needed it to stay where it was for at least another hour. But, of course time doesn’t play that way… so exasperated I was. Here are some of the “diva moment” photographs. With Type 85 of course.

More than just Pictures!

I don’t know about anyone else. But, there were countless times I was happy for the video capability on my iPhone. Below are a few videos from our time together.

The grounds at Eco Village Resort were situated directly in the rain forest which ran right into the ocean. It was a spectacular setting and I had to walk through to show everyone.

Zoe and Bink conquer the Rainforest in flip-flops –

Our first real night being at our get together we do a print trading session. Michael Marlborough is speaking about his prints that he’s offering for trade. (I’m sure he’s loving me for this)

5 nights of our stay we held nightly slide shows of our work. Stephanie Anne helped me by being my voice for the evening since I loathe talking in front of people, bonus was that she entertained us with Shadow Puppets!

Here is a mini-segment of Stephanie Anne’s slide show she presented on Wednesday evening.

And just to remember how calm everything is – here is still video of the view from my house I rented.
